Jones had one of the most distinguished careers of any player at Northern Arizona University. While there he broke the all time scoring record with 1643 over the course of his collegiate career with the Lumberjacks. Jones was equally at home on defense or on the attack, earning accolades on both sides of the court.

Immediately after college Jones took part in the NBA summer league in Houston and was drafted into the D-League where he played for the Fort Wayne Mad Ants for his first season as a professional.

After playing in the D-League Cameron took an offer to play for another D-League team, the Santa- Cruz Warriors, where he played for two seasons and was awarded the NBA Development League Most Improved Player.

A two-time finalist in the D-League, Cameron Jones accepted the offer to come to St. Petersburg and play his first season across the ocean in order to continue to gain valuable experience.
