Anton Ponkrashov signed with Zenit!

Russian guard is coming to his hometown, the duration of the contract is one year

Ponkrashov was born in Leningrad back in 1986, studied in Olympic Reserve School and was was training with Admiralteyskaya school where he met future NBA champion Timofey Mozgov. At the age of 18 he made a debut in Spartak, a year later he won Eurobasket U20 as a player of Russian national team.

He left the city in 2006 to sign with CSKA Moscow, and now he’s back being a Eurobasket champion (2007) and bronze medalist (2011), Olympic bronze medalist (2012), four times Russian Cup winner, VTB United League winner, two times participant of the United League All-Star game and one of the most experienced and stable Russian basketball players of the recent years. In 2012, after winning medals in London, he got the medal of Honored Master of Sports along with our captain Evgeny Voronov and another newcomer Dmitry Khvostov.

All of his career Ponkrashov have been playing in Russia, among the clubs he’s played for is Spartak, CSKA, Khimki, Krasnye Krylya, Lokomotiv-Kuban, Krasny Oktyabr, and UNICS. He spent in Kazan last 4,5 years of his career, part of this time he was a captain.

In Eurocup, Anton has played in 20 games averaging 4,7 points, 2,3 rebounds and 1,3 assists in 14 minutes. He also played all 32 games in the VTB League where his stats is 6,5 points, 2,5 assists and 1,9 rebounds in 18 minutes per game.
