Zenit take on Avtodor

The only position in which the Saratov club lacks stability is the position of head coach. Last season, the team had three different bosses: Vladimir Rodionov, Sergei Mokin and Vladimir Antsiferov. At the beginning of the season in search of stability, the club invited a man with a great name, Brad Greenberg, who at one time saw the talent of Allen Iverson. However, in November, he was replaced by Alexey Vasiliev. Alexey Yurevich was the boss this season until the end of January and resigned after the defeat at Gran Canaria in the Eurocup. Since then, Avtodor have again appointed Antsiferov.

Interestingly, even with all of these problems at the top Avtodor were confident for the season ahead. In the Eurocup Saratov took second place in the first group stage and went into the last 32 in good form. They faced a tough struggle to progress past the Gran Canaria, Hapoel Jeruselum and Strasbourg and failed to progressed to the semi-finals stage of the tournament. With regard to the United League, the Avtodorozhnik have done well through the entire league race. Like Zenit, Avtodor has never lost to teams from the bottom eight and currenty sit comfortably in sixth place. Now the team from Saratov has won six games in a row in the United League.

Zenit have already played the black and whites this season three times, the teams were in a same group at the first stage of the Eurocup. There the Avtodorozhniks caused the blue-white-sky blues their first defeat of the season at the Sibur Arena. Before that, though Zenit defeated Avtodor twice, once in the United League and also away in the European Cup match.
