Walter Hodge: “I’m ready to be the leader of the team”

The Puerto Rican guard was in an excellent mood during Zenit’s first training session in St. Petersburg: our newest player just had his birthday! After the two hour practice in the gym and the court Walter answered a few questions (all the while holding a birthday cake in his hands).
Walter Hodge: “I’m ready to be the leader of the team”

— Zenit’s head trainer Vasily Karasev has named you as one of the leaders of the team. Are you ready to lead them?
— I think that I can be one of the leaders of the tea, I’m ready for that kind of responsibility. Our official matches are already going to start soon and we have a lot left to do. We have a new youth team, and everyone is very dedicated to the task at hand. It’s only been about a month since we started playing together and I can already say that we are in good shape. But we are working as hard as we can to play well in the tournaments and make our fans happy as the season goes on.

— You are really active on instagram. Is it a way to keep in touch with friends and family or do you just love taking pictures.
— Both. I’m a pretty social person and I want to share everything that I’m doing with my family, friends and fans. Show them what’s fun and interesting around here each day. I just hope that they like it!

— Today’s your birthday. There’s a tradition of making a wish when you blow out the candles. You’ve already got the cake, are you going to make some wishes too?
— I’m getting better each day. But my desire to get better isn’t going to just happen all by itself, I have to continue to work hard and to be a good example for my children.
